Now I've made a bad first impression

I don't normally wait this long, I swear. I mean, I've been at my computer nearly all day, so why did I just now decide to sit here and blog about it?

The first thing I've noticed is there's no Comic Sans font on here. So I guess I can't annoy the hell out of some people that are so insulted by even the thought of somebody, somewhere, utilizing a font built-in to most text editing software.

But I'm here to talk about myself aren't I? My name is Dylan French, I am 16, and believe it or not I attend Henry Clay High School. All of my teachers this year are nice, except for Mr. Logsdon. I heard he's going to make us write blogs this year. What sort of freak wants to sit there and blog?

I enjoy spending time on computers and playing video games mostly, conventionally geeky things. I'm hoping to enter some field of engineering, preferably software-based, but I've always been on the fence about future goals. Maybe it's that latent fear of commitment all men supposedly have? Recently I've begun to truly appreciate music. Whereas before, I was sort of that passive music-listener, who chimed in occasionally with "oh yeah, that's that one band, isn't it?" now I've sort of made it into a game to know more about various bands I hear, and try to guess song titles on the radio.

As for this year's goal, my philosophy is the same as last year- procrastinate for a good while, then give it your all. I guess I just like to lump my fun and work together in different groups, like how I still eat systematically, usually one food at a time. "I could do everything Saturday then relax all day Sunday, or I could squeeze it all together at the end of my weekend." It works though, and I never make a half-effort on work.

Whoop-de-doo, there's my blog. But, oh wait, I'm missing a hyperlink or something. Enjoy this look at musical history in that case.

Zea Wang

Hey, as I'm pretty sure everyone knows I'm Zea. I like to figure skate which takes up a lot of my time along with school. I also like to draw and paint and attend art classes every week in Wilmore. This summer I was fortunate enough to be able to go back to China where I grew up to see my family there with all my cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents (I have a ton of relatives there). We didn't really do much except hang out with family and eat... a lot... The only downside was being jet-lagged on the way back from China and coming to school on the first day having no sleep for the last 30 hours.
My most visited website would probably have to be facebook because i get to connect to all my friends plus having it banned in China along with youtube made me appreciate it a whole lot more.

My Name Is Barrett

Hello. My name is Barrett Block. And for the better, or worse, I am pretty sure all of you guys know me.

I stand around five-foot and eight-inches tall, weigh 160 pounds, that is about 73 kilos, or 11.5 stone. I have brown hair, bronzed skin, and was last seen wearing a pink polo and white shorts. Is it just me, or does this paragraph sound like a police report?

Here at Henry Clay I am Captain of the finest Academic-Team ever assembled on Earth. Naturally, as an Academic-Team member, I have a love for things most kids hate. Like textbooks, learning, hard-work, trivia-game shows, waking up early on Saturday mornings, calculators, math, reading books whose authors are old-dead-white-men, and the sounds of buzzers. For me, Academic-Team is a sport. It is heart-racing, adrenaline-pumping glory. I love Academic-Team and all the people on it-yes, even Carson Dooley.

Besides reading, learning, and straight-being-a-boss with Academic-Team, I love going to the lake. To me, Herrington Lake is heaven. There I am at home and have no worries. At the lake I water-ski. I like water-skiing as much as I like Academic-Team (and as you can tell, that is a lot). I slalom and trick-ski and am indisputably the best skiier on the lake. For me, skiing is a reflection of my life. To ski well demands the union of mind and body, of sanity and health. To ski well, one must focus on nothing but the marriage of one's body with one's ski-not on one's worries or problems. If one finds balance on the water, it is only because one has first found balance on land. In that sense, skiing is my medicine, and my meditation. This Friday, the end of one tough week, and an even tougher month, I skiied better than I ever have. That fact leads me to say with confidence this Sunday night that I have once again found myself and all the happiness the world has to offer- just in time for me to tell you a bit about me.

Lastly, in order to meet the requirements of this assignment, I have to include a picture and a link to a web-site. I love www.wikipedia.org. And I have learned a lot from it. In my humble opinion, I think it is reliable and should be accepted as a viable source in scholarly work. As I write this sentence I do not know what I should make my picture. I would post a picture of myself, but that would be narcissistic (which everyone knows I am not). So, I will post a picture of Herrington Lake (right)- my Shangri-La. Honestly, I have learned more on its waters than I have on thousands of wikipedia pages.

So, it is a pleasure to meet you.

I hope it was the same for you.

Ol' Grodon

Well hello! I'm Gordon. I'm 16, I have dreadlocks, and my middle name is Buckingham. I have had dreadlocks since August 2008 and enjoyed them.

My favorite hobby/activity would be hanging out with friends, playing video games, or taking walks. My main focus career-wise is architecture. I would like to go to Chicago to learn about architecture because of its great schools and its fantastic buildings. I'm not a big sports guy, I'm not crazy about music, but I do love architecture.

Oh, and Internet humour. How I love a good rage comic! For plenty of Internet news, fun, and interesting tidbits, I go to
http://www.reddit.com/!

I hope to have a good year of rhetoric and such!

Shayna's First Blog

Hello. I’m Shayna and I’m finally getting around to posting in this blog. Anyways, we’re supposed to write about ourselves, and I’m not exactly sure what to write, so… Yeah.

One thing you should know about me is that I love band. I play alto saxophone in the marching band and jazz band and I play steel drums in the spring in steel band. During the fall, and marching band season, band takes priority over everything else (my parents say that’s a bad thing, but oh well). I’m not the best saxophonist, but I hope to be section leader next year so that I can help the new marchers without getting yelled at all the time.

I also enjoy baking. I like to make cakes, cookies, brownies, cheesecakes, cupcakes, pies, and most recently, pretzels. I mostly bake for my friends and my church youth group, but sometimes I’ll get a request for a cake for a company party or a birthday party and I’ll get paid for it. I hope to be a baker when I grow up, after culinary school and UK.

Uhm….. My favorite website is http://www.youtube.com/. I love watching funny videos and sometimes I watch the music videos by my favorite bands, too. I also watch old marching competitions to learn how I can improve at marching.

Hi, I'm Jeffrey Doll. I'm not actually in 1st period, however it is the class blog I was invited to. I'm going to post here until this is fixed.

Anyway, I'm supposed to describe myself to introduce myself to the blog. As I said, I'm Jeffrey Doll. I'm currently 16 years of age, own a car, and will be getting my license sooner or later. If I had to pick something I find myself most intrigued in, It would be music. More specifically, classical orchestral, wind band, and the various forms of Jazz that have sprung up over the years. In my free time outside of of school, I'm probably doing something that involves school. My time consists of 1. Band, 2. School, 3. Homework, 4. More Band. In case you didn't get the message yet, I love band. Its what I do. In band I'm a trumpet player, and am currently 1st chair in HC's Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, and Jazz Band. So yeah, I like band.

I'm also supposed to link to my favorite website and post a picture that "describes me", so here are those.

http://www.youtube.com/

I spend any of the free time I get on youtube, usually wasting all the time I had.

Picture is at the top; I don't know how to blog.

Good day.

Rob Schrader

http://kentuckysportsradio.com/ is a blog that I read every day because it covers my favorite subject, Kentucky sports. Not only does the site give accurate information about Kentucky, but the writers of the blog are extremely witty and have a great humorous style. If anyone is a Kentucky fan, they should check out KSR.

Besides being a sports fan, my favorite hobby is to act on stage. This summer I attended the Governor's School for the Arts for drama and had the best three weeks of my life. It was awesome to get to meet other high school students that were interersted in the arts. I recommend auditioning to anyone that enjoys any fine art.

While I had a busy summer, I'm ready to get back to school. I like to write (when I have a good incentive to do so) about new topics. Writing is interesting to me because it is challenging. Math is a two sided coin. You either know the subject or you don't. Writing however, makes the author entertain. You have to have a good style, understanding of your material, and a conveying message to be able to write. It is more interesting to me.
