Speach spelled wrong

Slaves, not of the past, but slaves to a new time, a time when a nation is dependent upon fast food. Now what is wrong with this you may ask and why is fast food bad? What makes fast food the evil doer in the food corporation? There are actually quite a few important reasons. It may be that one in three Americans are obese, or the hundreds of thousands of heart attacks that occur each year, it could even be the outrageous prices you pay for this food.
We, unlike the slaves of the past, have a choice in the matter. We can decide what we let these fast food monsters do to us, because they only have as much control as we are willing to give to them. Every time you eat one of their hamburgers, or buy one of their milkshakes, it is like handing over a little piece of yourself. This is also like ordering a heart attack, or a little extra weight around that belt line, and what sense does that make? Why give them this power? It seems crazy that people would subject themselves to this fast food nation. But I think the answer is simple, Americans are a busy people who need convenience, they are people who are always running around…but is this convenience really worth giving up their freedom and health? I think not.
A HUGE issue with the fast food industry is that they charge more money for the healthy food items. How they can charge more for the healthy version of a food choice is insane. Would you rather pay one dollar for a hamburger, or $4.29 for a salad? In most cases it is the one dollar for the hamburger. This gets the government off their back because they do have “healthy” options, but buying them is impractical. Think of the stressed out soccer mom who is running late and has to feed her kids before they go to practice, she doesn’t have time to make a good dinner, so she stops buy the local burger king, and looks at the menu. She has 10 dollars, and she needs to get them fed, yeah, she is going buy 3 hamburgers and some fries for them. What else can she do?
A direction that can be taken is one where you shop at farmers markets, and prepare most of your own food. Farmers markets are cheaper than grocers and defiantly healthier than fast food. Even if you don't know where to find a farmers market or don’t like the idea, you can take steps to become healthier on your own. Grow some back yard tomatoes, and get a chicken, they are like pets, and give you healthy eggs. Take it into your hands to make your life better and healthier.
So what can you do, what can I do, what can we as a people do when you are just ready to remove fast food for good? We can revolt; lead a revolution against our fast food masters. The standards that we have let the industry standby are absurd, and not just. They must be raised to a new high, pushed up to what is an acceptable level so we can start to gain back our health. You must write your congressmen and statesmen and tell them how you feel, gain their support so they can push changes in corporate fast food. Stop giving into what the fast food nation is offering you, be strong, start a change, and make the right choice.
