"A dream is a wish your heart makes..."

Like every other 5 year old girl in America, I've always dreamed of being Cinderella. I mean, she's perfect. Perfect hair, perfect face, perfect attitude towards EVERYTHING. The girl makes me sick. But I'm sooooo jealous of her. The fact that she can win over the prince just by first glance. Yes, I'm a sucker for a good romance movie. The whole "love at first sight" idea fascinates me. I'm not saying I believe in it but I believe it creates an adorable romantic movie plot. Also, even though Cinderella is the most coveted character in the world, everyone still loves her. There's really nothing to hate, it's all jealousy. The Cinderella story is just the perfect fairytale any girl in their right mind would love to have. The prince sweeping you off your feet, the mean and ugly stepsisters getting what they deserve, mice turning into horses, what more could ya want??

Sponge Bob

I chose to be Spongebob. Spongebob is definitely the happiest 'person' to grace my television set. Most people would chose to be a super hero, a wealthy playboy, or pop icon but the real reason for chosing these people would be to be happy with what you are or can do; spongebob is always happy, he needs to superpower or money. Spongebob has been however old he is now for the past like 15 years and he is more or less invencible. Spongebob has gotten blown up, decapitated, gotten all limps amputated, and even melted on several ocassions. Spongebob always goes to work, and ginuinely enjoys doing it and enjoys getting verbally abused by his neighbor. If the point of life is to be happy, than being spongebob is the point of life as well.

Tony Stark!

Tony Stark otherwise known as iron man is the most ideal fictional character that I would want to be. Tony is a genius scientist, owns a wealthy corporation, and gets any woman he wants! Tony has could have an easy going life if he so chose, which I would probably do, because lets face it I'm way too lazy to save the world every couple of weeks. The most important reason I would like to be Tony Stark is that he has the opportunity to do or invent whatever he pleases. I've always said my ideal superpower would be flying, and Ironman can already do that. But as Tony I don't have to limit myself to one super power but rather whatever I decide to invent at the time. I could incorporate invisibility into my suit and maybe even teleportation down the road. The opportunities Tony Stark has available makes him the ideal fictional character.

The Batman

I'd want to be Bruce Wayne/Batman. He has nearly unlimited wealth, unmatched intelligence, and you can't beat that sexy rasp of a voice. He gets the satisfaction of vigilantism with the knowledge that he's actually accomplishing something. Batman doesn't fear anything under normal conditions (barring Scarecrow's continued imprisonment in Arkham Asylum). His friends are completely badass, not only Justice League, but Nightwing and Robin. He isn't invincible, but with all the supernatural mumbo-jumbo going on, he comes back to life every other decade. He also has to deal with pain. Physical or mental, Batman deals with so much. Whether it's being beaten to a pulp or witnessing death, Batman endures more trauma than most humans do in their entire lives. Yet he perseveres with extreme strength. But perhaps the best skill Batman possesses is that crazy disappearing thing. Someone will be talking to him on the roof of GCPD, look away for two seconds and BOOM. Gone. True American hero.
Society loves fiction because it
takes us to another world where logic doesn’t have to follow reason and extraordinary
event can happen to the most ordinary of people. If I could be any fictional
character I would be any character with an extraordinary destiny. Since I have
no idea what I want to do with my life, I love the idea of having a path meant
specifically for me. Especially because those with destinies are people that
are adored and idolized because they are depended on. Just like Eragon is the
last dragon rider, Harry is the chosen one, Katniss is thrown into the Games,
and Emma (Once Upon A Time) is the Savior; they all have people who need them
and depend on them to fulfill fate. As much as I would love to be in an
incredible love story, I would much rather prefer being something worth
fighting for more than just one person.

A time before vampires filled little girls' fantasies

In the good old days, more respected was the slayer of vile creatures of the night than the girl who romances them. It was during this time that many of the many of the most epic heroes were vampire slayers (which would probably be the most awesome occupation ever). One of the coolest vampire slayers ever created was Simon Belmont, the protagonist of the game Castlevania. He was pretty much the most ridiculous protagonist ever invented (due in part to the fact that the quest he faced was among the hardest games ever created). Simon Belmont wielded a whip and did things with it that could make Indiana Jones look like a little girl jumping rope. Plus he could use holy water as a weapon and had a cross boomerang in his arsenal= the most awesome set of weapons ever. Among his other abilities was the ability to eat rancid meat which had been sitting on the floor for who knows how long; I would never be hungry again. Really the only downside I could see to beeing Simon Belmont is that there were no girls in the game. But you know, who needs girls anyway?

Pick A Guy Any Guy

If I could be any fictional character, then I would pretty much be any fictional character in the movies today. If I were to be the protagonist in seemingly every Hollywood movie nowadays would be guaranteed life, possibly money, and the hottest damsel in distress I just saved. Every new action movie that has Angelina Jolie or Jessica Alba starring as the beautiful co-star has me (and almost every other male) thinking “man, would I love to be that guy right now.” Sure, the gorgeous women are great but the best part would be the pure B.A-ery to survive any explosion or come up with an extremely intricate plan to get out of any dire situation. Whether I am stuck in a building with a group of terrorists or a top agent for one of the most distinguished companies out there, don’t worry because I’m getting out alive and I am going to lay.

Robin Sparkles

If I could be any fictional character, I would want to be Robin Scherbatsky. She grew up in Canada, striving to gain affection from her father (who always wanted a son). She was always one of the guys growing up, playing hockey, and for her 16th birthday her dad threw her off a helicopter to live in the wild for 3 days, which is what every girl dreams of. She was also a Canadian teen pop star that goes by the name of Robin Sparkles. She came out with such hits as “Let’s Go to the Mall” and “Sandcastles in the Sand”. But all of that is beside the point. She gets to hang out with her normal group of friends, Ted, Lily Marshall, and Barney, almost every night. She has a job as a journalist, but has jumped around from job to job, ranging from a reporter on the scene to lead anchor of Channel 5 News. Aside from being a successful journalist, she has an awesome sense of humor and she can be one of the guys, too. Barney even considers her a “bro” or a “wing man” from time to time. Robin seems like she has an awesome life, especially with the friends she has, and that’s why I would be her.

Superman

If I could be any fictional character I'd choose to be Superman. Now truthfully Superman isn't my favorite fictional character; such an honor goes to either Booster Gold, Sherlock Holmes, or The Question. In fact I truthfully detest Superman, the man of steel seems inhuman in his ability and desire to do good without fault. However, living the life of Superman would be great. I'd never have to eat or sleep since my body acts as a solar panel absorbing the suns energy like a plant. I'd be completely invulnerable and immortal meaning I wouldn't have to worry about my mortality leaving me to spend eternity stress free. And, finally, I'd be able to do whatever I please after all no one can truly stop Superman. Sure there would be somedraw backs to immortality with the major concern being that your loved ones eventually die while you live on, but even if I wasn't able to overcome the emotional loss, I'd be part of a universe where time travel and retcons are prevalent. Although, the life of Superman/ Clark Kent are already seemingly perfect, I'd definitely do what I want rather than live a life as they live it.

Fictional Character

Oh my... A fictional character? So many to choose from... I'd probably want to be something other human. A dragon, maybe? Yeah. I'd like to be Saphira from the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paloini. She is strong, beautiful, and independent. No matter what troubles come her way, she doesn't worry. The only one she cares about is herself and Eragon, who is her bonded human partner. What I would give to be able to fly away sometimes, to escape everything. I know being a dragon may seem juvenile and cliche, but admit it: you'd like to be able to fly and breathe fire too.

Assignment 18: Fictional Character, Fictional Life

This week's blog is brought to you from the mind of Hannah Evans and Zachary Atwell.

Out of all of the books, all of the movies, and all of the television shows you have watched, consider your favorite characters. Then, answer the following:

If you could be any fictional character, who would you be and why?

A list of my favorite buckets, i.e. My Bucket List

I haven't made a bucket list yet personally. However, I WILL say that random things, "Totally belong on my bucket list," then immediately forget them. But apparently for the purpose of this blog post assume that I've been carefully crafting my own personal, zeroxed bucket list. In triplicate. So here it is:

1. What I would like to do before I finish high school

Well it's almost over isn't it? There are lots of small options here. Come up with/complete a senior mentoring project, that's kind of important. I've already started a slow clap in an entire room of AP testers (one of my proudest moments), so that's been cleared off. I'm going to go with the obvious choice: ride a jetski. Because nobody can NOT have fun on a jetski; it's empirical.

2. What I would like to do before graduating college

Travel out of the country. I've hardly even been out of the state of Kentucky, and I've never been to anywhere outside the US' borders. I'd love to visit Europe or even Canada before finishing college, but, then again, student loans won't pay themselves!

3. Number one thing I want to do before dying

Enslave a large group of people, and force them to build a grand monument in my image, constructed only of the finest materials, and forever embodying my life's work of whatever my life's work is. I shall be buried in a tomb beneath one of the grandiose feet, surrounded by my loved ones and any slaves that died in the building process (probably a lot of them). This way I shall forever be remembered long after my death. Also, my bucket list will be enshrined above my sarcophagus, right next to the Mona Lisa.

bucket list...?

are we even old enough to start thinking of a bucket list? i mean, geez, i definetly don't plan on dying anytime soon... but i guess i'll have to consider this exceedingly depressing topic now...

bucket list for high school... what is there to even do in high school? our lives don't really begin until afterwards, we may get a basis for the rest of our existense, but most of us will have our lives truly begin to take shape and the biggest influence on them in college. im not planning anything special before the end of high school, so this question is very difficult, but one thing i planned on doing is driving up to a school function in an old sports car... ideally prom or some event like that, but i want to borrow or buy a car from my family's friend, a fully restored '67 chevelle thats cobalt blue with two white stripes down the middle... gawd that baby's beautiful...

so college bucket list now? that one is simple. before the end of college i want to make at least one close friend. like lifelong friend, the guy you still call to see whats up 25 years after graduation, the one you still would share a room with every day that you could and that you'd trust with anything. making a couple of friends like that would make college alot more enjoyable.

and for life... geez... call me cliche, but i want to travel. one visit to Australia as a 12 year old showed me just how different America is from the rest of the world. im not saying its a bad thing, but some of the experiences i had over there could not be replaced by anything i experience here. i want to travel back to Australia for sure, and also to go to a ton of other countries in a trek across Eurasia.

Bucket list!

I think before high school's over, I want to go on a tour with my bandmates in Chewy and the Dinosaur King. We've been planning something along those lines (or at least talking about planning something along those lines) for quite a while now, and seeing those plans come into action would be very fulfilling. I'd like to gain that experience of living on the road for a month or two, just playing shows and traveling the country.

Before College ends, I want to travel abroad and explore Europe, particularly Greece and England. Europe has always thoroughly fascinated me and I'd really like to see the key parts of it, just once. As well as that, exploring my heritage in Greece is also something I've always wanted to do, and while I am fairly knowledgeable in Greco-American culture, I have a fairly strong feeling that actual native Greek culture will be completely different from what I'm used to.

And before I die, I want to learn how to skydive. I want to understand the adrenaline that comes with the feeling of falling thousands of feet. I'd enjoy that thrill very much.

Bucket list

High school: I suppose this one's a bit of a cop-out, since it's going to be achieved whether I want it or not, but I want to complete my mentoring project. Exactly what that is I can't say with any sort of confidence. I might learn to play violin, or create a game review blog, or create the game itself. I do plan on going into game design, so a few early steps in that direction certainly couldn't hurt.

College: Calvin took my idea for this one. I've always admired parkour (or at least since playing Mirror's Edge and Assassin's Creed) because, in essence, it is a sport/self-discipline that requires a high degree of problem solving. Finding a smooth, quick route from Point A to Point B interests me in a way I can't quite describe (primarily because it sounds really lame on paper), and parkour is the perfect method of satiating that interest while simultaneously curing my acrophobia.

Lifetime: I want something of mine to be known worldwide. Chewy and the Dinosaur King will have a poster in two out of five American houses, or my YouTube channel will surpass RayWilliamJohnson's. I could create a video game franchise that nets the same amount of money as Call of Duty, only my franchise will be fun. I've got a suspicion that being recognized for something good, something that benefits a mass of people, even in a small way, is an important step toward self-actualization.

Bucket List

My main item on my bucket list before I finish high school is to play a show with my band at a larger-than-usual venue, preferably one like Buster's or perhaps even Expo 5 in Louisville. It's always been one of my dreams to play music in front of a large group of people, 1000 or possibly more for instance. This goal is fairly feasible, considering that it wouldn't take too much effort to call one of these places and ask them to put something together.

For my college bucket list, my main goal would be to get a job where I can work from my dorm on a computer. I've always liked the idea of working without having to go to a workplace, because traveling in between jobs can be inconvenient, especially for a student.

My life bucket list contains my number one goal, and that is to travel to Wacken, Germany to attend the Wacken Open Air music festival. To explain this event in a nutshell, it is essentially a heavy metal version of Woodstock. People from all across the world come to this tiny rural city each year and spend 3 days simply having fun and listening to great music. For me it's like a dream, and I can only hope that that dream comes true.
The bucket list-
I want to list a few things I want to make it to and through before I die. Number one on this list is survive a zombie apocalypse. I mean think about it, it is nearly every guys dream to at least be apart of one, it is survival at its highest form. Next on my list would have to be hang glide over a pod of whales in the ocean. The view would be amazing, and it would be something i wouldn't soon forget. As far as high school goes, I kind of just want to go with the flow, I have done everything I consider important in high school, the only thing left to do really is attend prom. After all that is said and done I guess I need to get into college, most likely UK. Oh wait, I have to pull off a super fabulous senior prank. As for accomplishments go, I think I really just want life to take me one way or another.

I do really want to become a pilot as well.

ps.
A military pilot.

If I Die Young

1. There are many things I would like to do before I finish high school. One would be just to get into college so I won't be flipping burgers at McDonald's for the rest of my life. But I'd have to say my number one item on my bucket list would be to learn sign language. I've always thought it was a beautiful language and I'd love to be able to communicate with my deaf friends in their own language.
2. My number one item on my bucket list for college is to go to the Catspy's award ceremony for athletes at UK. This banquet is for all athletes that go to the University of Kentucky and it is a very prestigious event. I've been going to the Catspy's for the past two years now because it is open to the public and a great way to meet UK athletes. I am a diehard UK fan and would do anything to be apart of this ceremony. And, yes, I do realize that I would have to be a student at UK to be able to participate in this event but even if I go to a university all the way on the other side of the country, I'm getting into that banquet... One way or another.
3. The top item on my bucket list for my life is probably the most unique. I've always wanted to learn how to surf and be able to scrap my hand across the inside of a wave. That feeling of adrenaline as my hand brushes across the water would be life completing.

Bucket List

1. Before I leave high school, I would like to have created a solid foundation for the new club I made, Chemistry Club. I want to get enough people to join and get excited for this club so that when I leave, it will carry on and not be left in the dust.

2. Before I leave college, I want to successfully build a tesla coil. I know I've said that I wanted to build on in earlier blog posts, but who wouldn't want to build a big rod that shoots electrical sparks out of its end? And when I say build, I mean from scratch, not from some kit. I mean actually collecting the necessary materials and designing and constructing the coil on my own.

3. Before I die, I want to be part of something big. Whether it be part of designing and constructing a monumental piece of technology, creating my own company, or thinking up some theorem I want to play a significant role in it.

Bucket List

Before I graduate high school i would like to have completely all of my skating tests in both moves in the field and freestyle. I only have about four more to go and only three hopefully very soon but this would be an amazing accomplishment in my skating career before I graduate from high school and run out of time to skate in college. As for college I would like to learn to read and write chinese. Although I grew up there for a short time I can only recognize so many characters now and I would love to be able to pick up a chinese novel and read it through. As for the rest of my life traveling is definitely the top of my bucket list. It has always been something that I enjoy. and before I die I want to visit as many countries as possible and not to just go to the tourist areas but instead really get to know and learn the culture of the places I visit.

Bucket

1) Before I graduate high school I would like to break 17:00 in a cross country meet. My goal is pretty high considering that my PR this year was 17:28 but if I start working harder now than I have ever before, I think that it is achievable. Hopefully, my time, coupled with my teammates would win Henry Clay a cross country meet. The last time that Henry Clay won a meet was before I was a part of the team and I would like to have the feeling of being able to say that my senior year was the year that we broke the losing streak.
2) Before I graduate college I would like to act in a play and get paid. My dream is to be able to act for my career and the first step to doing that is getting paid for my art. I have already taken the first steps necessary to try to get paid for my art form by setting up a meeting with a talent agency in Louisville. Hopefully, if I get that first break under my belt, I will be able to get my name out there.
3) Before I die I want to get on a Broadway stage, whether that be as an actor, director, or janitor. I want the opportunity to look out at the audience from the stage and imagine them full of people. My dream is corny, but I will do anything to make it happen.
  1. What is the number one item on your bucket list before you finish high school? Before I finish high school one thing that I want to do is get straight A's. Never before have I obtained straight A's. I've came close but smoked no cigar. I never really needed to do all my homework or study for tests until I came to high school so I didn't start to develop good study habits until I was already here. To get straight A's I am putting homework as a priority and try my best to do it every night.
  2. What is the number one item on your bucket list before you finish college? I want to travel to many different places across the world such as France, Ireland, Japan, England, Italy, and so on. So before I settle down and make a family I want to have that opportunity to travel abroad.
  3. What is the number one item on your bucket list before you finish living? There is so much that I want to do in my life and accomplish, but life is so unpredictable that no one will be able to know for sure when it is their time. For that reason I want to make it a goal to be happy and don't live life with regrets. I want to make the best of the time I have here on Earth and make it better for the people around me. Don't wallow in your mistakes and always smile and laugh. Don't be sad, angry, or upset. It's your life, live the hell out of it.

You laugh you lose... (my bucket list)

1. Before I finish high school, I would like to make a bucket list (which means this assignment is convenient for me, as I am sort of killing 2 birds with one piece of writing; I guess that the pen truly is mightier than the sword, or in this case the stone). As of the completion of this bucket list, I guess I won't have any more to do before high school ends.

2. My goals for college are a bit more taxing. The biggest thing is that I would like to take a cross-country car trip by myself, all the while imaging that I am being stalked by a psycho. I then need to record the details of my travel and interactions with the psycho (imaginary interactions) in a novel entitled "In the rear-view mirror." I'm kidding about the psycho and the novel, but the cross-country car trip would be fun.

3. Things to do before I die: Tour the country with a band (either one that I'm performing in or Primus), Open a furniture store called the Sofa King ("Our prices are Sofa King low you won't believe it!"), build a 3-D computer model of Lexington (or another city) with which I could plan my route of escape in the event of a zombie apocalypse or a Russian Invasion, be a pterodactyl baby, shed my skin, slay the Hydra and save South Africa.

You didn't make it through the whole thing without laughing. The pterodactyl baby got you. If not, this will:

Somehow my first post was deleted...so I wrote another.

High School Goal:

The one goal I have set for my high school career (besides graduating, or as I like to put it, finishing my prison sentence) is centered around academic team. Before I state my goal I would like to say that I, like Barrett and Cullen, am whole-heartedly focused on winning the state championship in quick recall. However, as this is a blog about personal goals, I do not believe that could be considered a true goal. Instead, I will say that my major goal before I finish high school is to place at the state level in social studies for academic team competition. This will not be an easy goal to achieve, however with a lot of dedication and hard work (and just a bit of luck) I am confident that I will be successful in my endeavor.

College Goal:

For my years at university, I have set two goals; one unrealistic and the other realistic. My unrealistic goal, which is nothing more than a whimsical wish, is to join an indie pop duo band. My reason behind such a goal is that many of my favorite musical acts, including MGMT, Vampire Weekend, and Ratatat, were formed during their college years. It would be a great achievement if I were able to do the same, and even better yet if I could garner some semblance of fame. My realistic goal is a complete 180 from my other one. I simply want to graduate with the degree of my choice.

Before-I-kick-the-bucket goal:
I have many goals set aside for my after-college years. These include writing a novel, traveling the world, designing a fashion line, and many other clichéd ambitions. I do, however, have one goal that I have set above the rest. To save a person's life. I have always thought that doing such a thing would be a noble action, and more importantly awesome. There's nothing quite like cheating death and helping someone at the same time.

Bucketeering

1. Before I finish high school I would hope to get a million views on a Youtube video. I hope to go into cinematography and I've been doing them for years. Recently, though, I've gotten more proficient at editing, filming, writing etc. I hope to put that one video up on Youtube that's the talk of the town for a while.

2. Before I finish college I would hope to get a full length movie in a festival. It's a tough task, but I think with lots of classes under my belt, it shouldn't be too hard.

3. Before I die, I want to do a lot of things. I want a blockbuster, or near, movie to come out all over in America. I want a house built that I designed (or helped design).

bkecut lsit

1. Before I finish High School I want to make something above minimum wage. Right now i work at the ice rink and i am 97% positive that i will never get promoted to anything above a minimum wage worker. So if i can fill out at least 3 slots of the 'previous occupations' portion of a common app or something and be able to show progress in the economic world then I will be happy. Selling something that I invent or personally manage would be most preferable.
2. Before I graduate college i would like to be on the news for something; I do not care what, just something. It can be for setting a record, saving some children from a burning playground, or even being blamed for burning down a playground. I just plan on being on the news. I have been once, but I was young and I want to have a couple minutes on the news explicitly devoted to me.
3. Before I turn fifty I would like to visit space. I plan on having a sciency career and technology today makes me believe that civilian space shuttles will not be completely out of the question. Also, i want to survive Apophis, the 200 meter long asteroid that is predicted to strike the earth in 2036, actual doomsday. just throwing that out there.

Bucket

By the time I leave high school I want to fix my sleep schedule so that I can wake up naturally at 6:30 am but still have enough time in the evening to get everything done that I need to. I don't know if that will require some carefully researched power-nap routine or what, but I can see how it could have wondrous effects on my productivity. My current sleep schedule isn't a problem per se, but getting a better nights sleep is never a bad idea.

By the end of college I want to learn parkour. It's basically just running through the city, climbing buildings and jumping off of things, but with it comes improved fitness and better nerves. Parkour can be really fun to watch, and hopefully to do. It seems like an interesting and fun hobby and a way to stay fit that isn't one of your average sports (most of which I'm quite impartial to).

By the time I kick the bucket I will have something named after me. A mathematical theorem, a periodic element, a neutrino particle, whatever; all I care is that there is something scientific with the name Parkin in it by the time I die.

Bucket List

I personally feel fairly fulfilled in my high school career but there are a few things I would like to do before I graduate. I think the biggest thing for me is to make the all-state band which I came up short on this year. The biggest thing holding me back is my nerves when I audition so I hope I can learn to conquer my subconscious's annoying habit of shutting down my system right before I start playing. In college I don't know if there is one specific thing I want to do but in general I want to not work too hard. I do not believe that working your fingers to the bone is worth the reward if you are not happy throughout the process. I think one thing that will contribute to this goal will be finding one activity such as ultimate frisbee to become invested in and develop relationships through the activity. My life bucket list is a little more traditional, I hope to go into space at least once before I die, live a modest and happy life, and live long enough to see an age of prosperity and harmony.

The title of that one movie with Morgan Freeman and the guy who played the joker

If there is one thing I plan on doing before high school ends it is write and publish a graphic novel. Since fourth grade when I was reading the Red Wall series I've wanted to be a writer; I even tried to write my own book in 5th grade, which I gave up on do lack of foresight while writing. However, since then I've begun to read comics and see it as a visual medium far superior to both books due to the more definite nature of comics and movies due to the limited scale on which they occur, I've decided to write a graphic novel instead. I'd hope to finish it before highschool so that I could work as a professional writer early on in life.
Honestly, I have no goals for college and see it as more of a back up plan lest my plan to write a graphic novel absolutely and totally fail. If such does fail I just hope to get a degree in something I care about.
My goal for life is to A) become the worlds greatest comic book writer and not be forgotten due to my impact upon the medium as well as American culture as a whole or B) gain immortality through cryogenics or robot human hybrids either one depending on what is available in the future.

I don't give much though to kicking the bucket...but that doesn't stop me from making lists!

Before I graduate high school, I want to be a bad kid and skip school one day. And like Roshnee pointed out, senior skip day DOES NOT count. I would, without question, pick a day (probably after AP testing) in which I know we won’t have too much work, tests, or quizzes simply because my conscious would prevent me from having fun in any other circumstances. I feel like going to Keeneland in the spring with my closest friends would be the perfect skip day. Sure, I won’t pull it off as glamorously and professionally as Ferris Buhler, but hey, I’ll still have fun!

Before I’m done with college, I want to go on vacation outside of the US with my friends. Whether somewhere tropical like Mexico, or somewhere more traditional like Italy, it doesn’t particularly matter to me so far!

Because traveling is one of my favorite hobbies, and I have already been to 6 different countries so far, my goal is to visit all of the continents before my life is over; with the exception of Antarctica of course. I also want to visit as many different countries in each of these continents, because one thing I have learned from my travels in Europe is that even the countries that are close enough to take a two day train ride through 5 different ones all have relative differences in food, fashion, and culture.

i'm going to die happy

Before I finish high school, I want to meet my goals for standardized testing (SAT or ACT). Most of you who know me, know that I am not one who performs well on tests-standardized or not, we don’t have the best relationship. So in order to get accepted into the colleges I would like to attend, I need to meet my goal of being between a 27-31. When I work my butt off by preparing for these tests, it doesn’t budge. So hopefully before applying to colleges, I can meet my goal of scores.

Before I finish college, I would like to travel out of the United States. Hopefully, I will get the opportunity to study abroad for a class I am taking. Traveling to England, Paris, Ireland, or Scotland would be my ideal destinations.

The number one thing I would absolutely LOVE to do before I die would be to meet Anderson Cooper. Oh how I would die such a happy girl if I ever met him! I have been watching him on CNN ever since I was a youngin’ and the stories he covers have so much range within them, whether he is in Africa covering a story about hunger, or covering an election, he knows so much information about every story he covers and I admire what he does.

From Here to Death

1. Before I graduate high school, I want to win State in Academic Team. I really love the sport and it would be a terrific way to cap-off my high-school career to unequivocally assert the supremacy of our team in the state of Kentucky. Moreover, I'd want the win for my friends on the team: Cullen, Zach, Carson and Michael. They've put in a lot of work and have been the best team-mates I could ask for, so they duly deserve the best award for a team in the state. But most importantly, I cannot stomach the thought of Dunbar winning another championship. I truly despise their entire team for everything they have ever been, currently are, or ever will be. I delight in their failure, and will rejoice when we prove to them their glaring inferiority.

2. While in College, I hope to spend a lot of real, quality-time with every sorority on  campus. I hope to do so, for I truly believe in my heart that sorority girls are the most upstanding and magnificent members of our society. The way in which they bond together and socialize for the benefit of others is simply beautiful. Their blithe zeal and selfless enthusiasm brings happiness to innumerable and often un-nameable individuals. Community-service is not just an academic requirement for them— it is a way of life. Their philanthropic nature embodies the ideals of civic virtue. They are selfless, and constantly give and give. If more girls were like sorority girls, I really believe the world would be a happier place. I believe just a week with about thirty of them could really instruct me on what it means to truly give with every shred of my body. But, in all honesty, I cannot match them; I think they would exhaust me with their insatiable appetite for pleasing others. Just kidding about all that. The temptation got the best of me. I figure in College I will want to challenge my comfort zone. And experiment. For instance, hang out with people I have very little, at least superficially, in common with, for instance, Liberal, non-Christian people. I think it is important to learn a lot about others, in order to be more tolerant, and to some extent be more enlightened. I'll hope for them to teach me some stuff, and for me to teach them some stuff (don't you just love how unclear the word stuff is?). Heck, maybe convert an atheist or two. It would be fun.

3. By the time I am dead, I want to date a Victoria Secret's super-model. I would love to see what it is like to maintain a purely physical relationship, namely, what it is like to date the most vapid, insolent, unintelligent, sexiest piece of meat in the world. Truth is, it'll probably be absolutely miserable after a night or two. But nonetheless,  it is an experience to have. Additionally, I made a bet with my sister's friend while watching the Victoria Secret's Fashion Show (yes, I was drooling) that by the time I am sixty I will bag at least one Victoria Secret's  super-model. And I do not like to lose. So it'll happen. However, the thing I fear most is that after the model gets a taste, she just won't be able to let me go. Wish me luck.

la liste de seau

1. Before I finish high school I want to get a part-time job or a summer job! Before it closed, I had always wanted to work at Graeter's because I believed it was the most wonderful, magical, amazing ice cream place on the face of this planet. Anyways, I think earning my own money would be really nice because then I can spend more without feeling as guilty if I were using my parents' money! My parents will never let me work while I'm still in high school, though, because they believe it would "interfere" with my studies... But they also said they won't let me drive (they broke down), so I still have hope that I can get a job before I graduate!

2. Before I finish college I want to go to Europe!! The only place I have been outside of the country is Asia, but Europe is where I have always wanted to go to. I want to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, the Parthenon, Big Ben - you get the point. If I ever do go to Europe, I most definitely want to visit France, so I can actually use my French there.

3. Before I finish living I want to live in a nice house that I designed. This most likely will not happen because I really do not know if I actually want to be an architect, but it's a nice thought. I would be able to choose how it looks, make it have those elegant curved stairs, and create secret passages that only I know about. That would make me very happy :)

Bucket List

1.) Before finishing high school, I want to try to make a quilt. Before my grandma passed away, she had made over a hundred quilts, including one for everyone in our whole family. I think this would be a great way to remember her and something that I would really enjoy.
2.) Before I finish college, I want to have traveled to a different country. I've never been on a plane so just visiting another country for a short time would be amazing. Like several other people, I would love to study abroad but at the same time I realize this might not be plausible depending on the major that I choose. One of my cousins spent the past semester in London and loved it. The chance to study abroad would be incredible but I would be fine with just visiting.
3.)Before I finish living, I want to learn German and then visit Germany with my family. I want to learn German because many of my ancestors spoke German. Once I learn the language, I want to go to Germany. This is something that my family has wanted to do but never has had a time when all of our schedules can fit it in. I would like to spent around a month in Germany to get a feel for the culture.

bucket list

1.) What is the number one item on your bucket list before you finish high school?
I want to go on spring break with all of my best friends. People always say that you don’t stay very close with your high school friends. I want to try and make the most of our time before college and go on spring break together.
2.) What is the number one item on your bucket list before you finish college?
I would love to spend a semester to a year studying abroad either in Spain or in London. I went on a trip to Europe over the summer and had one of the best weeks of my life. What was really shocking was that I went without knowing anyone on my tour and I still had an incredible time. This is definitely something I want to do again for a longer period of time.
3.) What is the number one item on your bucket list before you finish living?
I want to open an animal shelter. I love animals and I love volunteering at humane societies, so I would love to open an animal shelter as a side project to my life if I ever have the time or the money to do it.

Whoa! I inspired this? I feel like I’m expected to have a really awesome post that no one can beat... but this will just have to do.

  1. The top thing on my bucket list is to find out why I inspired this... Kidding! Maybe. In all seriousness, I really want to go on a huge trip with my friends before I graduate. I know I’ll still hold friendships with the people I know now but it won’t be the same (learned from middle school) and that may just be a necessary part of life. But c’mon, wouldn’t you want to go skydiving with your best friend and not have to pay for it because your parents were? Yes indeed. One of my friends and I have been planning since 8th grade, hopefully we get to do it but I’ll be fine with it being in the summer of 2013 if it must. Hello Hawaii!
  2. Before I finish college I want to have studied abroad in Europe. I want to either study in Rome, or London, or the countryside of Ireland/Scotland (doesn’t matter which one). I want to be in Europe for school, and that won’t happen at Cambridge or Oxford because I won’t be applying to either (though I thought about it a lot). Maybe I will spot Nessie!
  3. Oh my goodness, this is a hard one. Before I die I want to have beaten a world record; however, I don’t want it to be pointless and it doesn’t have to be in a book or anything like that. I want it to be in regards to my profession. I want to be the first to discover something that leads to a breakthrough in diabetes or cancer or even AIDS. I want to be the one who does the first partial brain transplant. I just want to do something that helps thousands, if not millions, of people. And I don’t care if people don’t remember my name, I just want my name on the medical journal so no one can say it wasn’t me. No Cheaties Bro!
(Excuse my colloquial language, I thought it gave my blog a better tone than that of a serious writer and more on the level of, well, a high school blog)

Bucket List

1. Before I graduate Henry Clay, I would like to stand in the long line for pizza. Yes, I’ve heard the line takes forever and people in my class gather around the door in hopes of getting in line first. But I have never done this and I figured it’s a part of the Henry Clay lunch time experience. I also want to buy one of those chocolate éclair on a stick thing or the pink version which I’m pretty sure is strawberry.

2. Before I finish college, I want to study abroad for a semester (maybe longer) and immerse myself in a different culture- preferably somewhere in Europe. I love going on vacation but I think living/studying in a different country is much different.

3. Before I die, I want to visit the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The list can differ depending on the source but from CNN’s list they include the Grand Canyon, Great Barrier Reef, Harbor of Rio de Janeiro, Mount Everest, Aurora, Paricutin volcano, and Victoria Falls. Of course I would like to visit other natural wonders as well. Also, it would be great if someone could prove the existence of Atlantis and El Dorado because I have always believed in these two places.

Before I have left...

1. Before I leave high school I would REALLY like to tell off that gross couple that always makes out in the hallways. Honestly, everyone thinks that they are gross! It's not totally awful when other couples say bye in the hallways and hold hands and whatnot, that I can handle. But this couple is ALL over each other at EVERY moment of the day! In the morning in the hallway I happen to frequent, during my lunch hour, between classes, at the end of the day...just sitting on each other and all kinds of stuff. I want to tell them how disgusting everyone - and also I - think they are.

2. When I am in college, I would like to go to at least one CRAZY dance party. Where people actually dance and enjoy themselves WHILE DANCING and just maybe it gets to loud and the cops break it up...I mean, gosh who turned up the volume? Not me!

3. Before I kick it, I want to swim with the sharks. Maybe in a cage for the more violent ones, and if they just happen to go into some kind of frenzy while I'm down there well then that is quite alright as well. Yeah...in the middle of a shark attack. It will be terrifying. It sounds wonderful.

Bucket List

1) Before I esca- I mean, graduate from high school, I want to sneak out and get away with it. I know this is fairly similar to Roshnee's post, but I have always wanted to have just one night secret from those who would try to stop me. I don't know what I would do, but I just want to prove that I can.

2) College, in and of itself, is on my bucket list. I can't wait for the dorms, the parties, the freedom... But more specifically, I want to master as many instruments as possible before I get my degree. Saxophone, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, maybe even some brass instruments.

3) Before I die? Hopefully that will be a long time away... My goals for life are pretty cliche, but they are still the things I want: to meet the perfect guy, to fall in love, to get married, to have my dream job, to have kids and raise them, and to spend the majority of my life happy. Pretty broad. One thing I've always wanted to do is to own a bakery, so maybe I'll work towards that. :)

Assignment 17: Buckets, Buckets

Welcome to your first blog prompt for 2012! Yay!

A bucket list is a list of everything you want to accomplish before you kick the bucket. That doesn't mean you can't have such a list for specific aspects of your life as well.

To begin the year, generate your own bucket lists - one for high school, one for college, and one for life. Then, write about the priority on each list.
  1. What is the number one item on your bucket list before you finish high school?
  2. What is the number one item on your bucket list before you finish college?
  3. What is the number one item on your bucket list before you finish living?

(This blog is inspired by Rob Schrader, Bella Gomez, Matthew Gross, Victoria Salsman, and Aaron Meek. Thank you!)
