Imagine yourself stuck in a long time somewhere, possibly a grand opening of a store. Last Saturday, I was faced with this terrible issue while standing in line at Forever 21 for an hour in a half. Here are some ways to make the time pass faster:
• Go get food (This only works if you are with a group of people). You and your friends have been waiting in line now for about 20 minutes and see no end in sight, but you all are getting thirsty after having shopped for a while. What do you do? Answer: have one of the members of the group go get a quick snack. A few pretzel bites, or a cookie, with a medium coke should hold the crowd for a little while longer.
• Take in your surroundings. Continue looking at some merchandise you never glanced at before. This will take your mind off of how long you have to wait (and how sore your feet and back are) and could possibly allow you to have other options of purchase as well. Also, contemplate if you really want everything that you are aiming to purchase. Would you really use it? Really wear it? Where would it end up?
• Catch up on the latest gossip. This is one of the quickest ways to pass the time. Share stories of what has happened to you or other people. Think of some stories that the people that are around you haven’t heard, or ask them to share something. If you are alone, call someone and start a conversation with them.
If you follow these ideas, it is a guarantee your wait will speed up. Time will fly and will have had no problem with making it do so. And your patience will have paid off in the end with the thrilling purchase you have just made.
