Everyone knows of the horror stories of the Holocaust, yet it is still nearly impossible for oneself to truly understand the struggles of the people during this unthinkable time in history. This picture of Anne Frank is easily recognized and unlike the other pictures of the horrors of the camps which are just as convincing, this picture doesn't emphasize the terrible things that were done during this time but rather all the innocence that was lost, all the possibilities that were forcefully taken away. This black and white portrait of a 14 year old girl was able to make the whole world stop and put a face to the millions of others lost in the Holocaust.
