The Nature of Wickedness
People overall are bad. Simply stated, we are bad people who do bad things and deserve no less than to be called out on all of the bad things we have done in our lives. You would be hard pressed to find someone who actually belives in purely good people anymore. Only the innocence of childhood can create that illusion. However, I do not think people are evil, people are (for lack of a better word) sinful. Which is defined as immoral or reprehensible. People choose to turn their back on what they know is the right thing to do and commit acts they would have once belived to be unspeakable. People do this becasue for the majority of the time it is just the eaiser thing to do than to tell the truth, or to sacrifice something. This is not to say that people are not capeable or doing the right thing, because we are. Often times one will find that the right thing is just ridden with guilting or shameing onesself into doing the right thing. And that is the difference in being purly good and doing good things. One who is purly good would do something because it is right and just and is done without hesitation. Call me pessimistic but this just doesnt exist. Purely evil is a different matter. If someone were to be purely evil they would have absolutely no redeming characterisitcs. It is in human nature to take the path of least resistance, so it is in our nature to commit bad acts along the way of life. Therefore, it is natural to say that no moral person is purely good. But I cannot say that there are people alive who have absolutely no redeming characteristics, and I refuse to condem someone to that label with no chance of redemption.
