Land of Confusion assigenment 3

The New Oxford American Dictionary defines good asthat which is morally right; righteousness” and evil as “profound immorality, wickedness, and depravity”.

Since, I’m a reader of comic books, one might think that I’d have some opinion on the battle between good and evil. However, comics or at least good comics show that there aren’t good guys or bad guys; there are simply people who are trying to commit crimes and those who try to stop criminals. Yes comics show super powered individuals who do right and wrong but that’s different from good and evil.

So personally, I don’t believe in either of these ideas. Good and evil are simply vague topics with most matters being too complex to be described as either. Such may stem from personal beliefs and bias preventing an absolute good or evil from existing and without an absolute force, views quickly become muddled falling into questionable territory. If one looks at this from different religious stand points immediately would bring up controversy as to what is considered good or evil; an in depth analysis of a single religion would most likely bring about conflict, too. In addition, there can never truly be a realistic being of pure good or evil. People are flawed, but flaws don’t make people evil and definitely prevent people from being undeniably good. There isn’t a Superman who always does what’s right.
