Playlist

Without my iPod, I wouldn't have nearly as much of a chance to enjoy my favorite thing in the world- music. Having said that, I my playlist for simply relaxing would be as follows:

  1. Emperor - Cosmic Keys to My Creations and Times - This song is absolutely fantastic for kicking back and enjoying mastery of a mix between tonality and technicality. The overall feel of the song is very enchanting, especially due to its use of a choir and high-pitched, raspy yelling. The song also has a distant sound to it, because of the use of reverb.
  2. Burzum - Gebrechlichkeit - If you are into ambient music at all, Burzum is definitely a band you should check out. This song in particular begins with a sound effect of water dripping, and the incredibly bright guitar riff slowly makes a crescendo into a trance-like sequence of shrill vocals and soothing synthesizer tracks.
  3. Stevie Ray Vaughan - Cold Shot - Definitely my favorite Stevie Ray Vaughan track. Although it may not seem that it fits with my other musical tastes, I absolutely love blues, and the riff in this track has just a wonderful driving beat behind it.
  4. Meshuggah - Bleed - A very hard song to describe. All I can say is that to enjoy this, you have to be able to enjoy 8-string guitars at an almost inhuman rate of string galloping. The drum and guitar work in this song are almost unbelievable, and these musicians transfer from incredible time signature changes. It's definitely worth a listen.
  5. Sunn O))) - It Took the Night to Believe - Another difficult one to put into words. This song is easily the most accessible song by Sunn O))), and it employs a perfect blend of droning low guitar chugs, fast tremolo picking, and low growling/moaning vocals. One of the most unique bands that I've ever heard in my life.
