The Evolution of Technology

Society has evolved to the point that humans can communicate with each other with the push of a single button. I would estimate that 99% of the high school students at Henry Clay have an iPod or iPhone. As a result of these revolutionary devices, our society has become more egotistical. We post picture of ourselves to show off to our friends and write statuses about the things we are doing. Do we need to announce our actions to the world before we do them? Certainly not but we do it anyway (myself included). Anyways, the five songs that played first on my iPod when I shuffled all the songs are:

The first song is “Chariots of Fire,” from the movie of the same title by Synthesizer Syndicate. I pair the song with the satisfaction that is gotten from breaking a personal record in running. When I ran a five thousand meter run in 18:00 this year, it was extremely satisfying because I was running about 24:00 two years earlier.

“The Ballad of Love and Hate” by the Avett Brothers. Just a nice folk song that I like to listen to. Everyone should check out the Avetts. They are coming to Lexington this year.

“Island on the Coast” by Band of Horses is my favorite song. It is a fun song that emphasizes the theme that when life gets a little crazy, we need to step back, breathe, and relax.

"One Big Holiday" by My Morning Jacket. Best band from Kentucky in a long time. If you like different kinds of music you should check them out.

"Radio' by Jurassic Five. Jurassic Five is a classic rap group. I like them because they aren't your typical rappers. Each one of them has a great voice unlike the rappers of this day and age.
