Good vs. Evil?

For the most part, I don't believe there is a rigid dichotomy when it comes to good and evil. Instead, I believe that there is a grey area between the two, as in most aspects of life. This is because we are all born with the ability to be morally good and be morally evil. Therefore, one cannot be truly good or evil. Or can they? While I stated previously that I don't believe that one can fully be one or the other, I do believe they can come close. Examples of this are all around us. One that most are familiar with is the case surrounding Jeffrey Dahmer, perhaps one of the most infamous serial killers in the history. He is best known for his atrocious acts such as cannibalism and necrophilia. Many say he was mentally unstable and that is why he committed these acts. Although he may have been ill, I do not believe that he did not understand the severity of his actions. He knew that what he was doing was evil. He knew that he should not have done what he did. This is evident in his methods of hiding his crimes. If he was completely insane, he would not know the difference between right and wrong, and therefore he wouldn't hide what he did. Even in interviews he expresses an understanding of the grievousness of his actions. For most of the world's population his actions are considered twisted and evil. It is not a matter of perspective in this case or cases like it. Therefore, Dahmer was indeed an evil being. He may not have been absolutely evil, but he was very close to it. This proves that such evil and good are very much real things.
