War Will Always Remain

Like it or not, war has played a major part in shaping civilization since the beginning of time, and it's something we're not going to get rid of or stop doing any time soon. Fighting is just in our animal nature. Several different animal species fight to assert dominance, and even in the modern era, we, as humans, are pretty much doing the same thing.

War is not something that is absolutely necessary, but it's nearly impossible to avoid. There is a time for war, when a nation has decided that it's had enough and needs to assert its dominance in some area, but this goes back to the primitive nature described above. War in modern society gives us a common enemy, something to rally the people against, making a by-product of war the distraction of the people from domestic issues, or in the case of WWII, the growth of industry to fuel the war effort. Either way, war should be (though it's not always) viewed as a last resort, as it is an unjustifiable act that is indeed the lesser of two evils.

To view it from a smaller scale, when somebody, say, takes something from you, do you have to exert force or fight them in order to get it back? There's always a more diplomatic solution to a problem, but that solution is usually far from the easiest, and sometimes nearly impossible. The alternative of trying to work out your problems with another country through treaties and negotiations can be more effective in regards to a long-lasting solution, though may not be the simplest solutions. Sometimes war is the only answer, and we have to accept that. It's simply in our nature.
