Whatever happened to fighting the Germans?

War is used to establish peace. When global affairs become incredibly hostile and tension rises, war normally resolves the issue. Or at least it used to solve the problem. Now diplomatic measures must be taken when dealing with any country that possesses nuclear weapons. So war once had its time and place, but it is becoming a dated practice as the nations of the world develop weapons that could easily kill millions with the turning of two keys.
Before the nuclear bomb was created, wars were morally justifiable. Wars seeking land were to help the nation grow thus offering new tracks of land for a growing population. Men sent to take Jerusalem were tasked with a holy mission. Thus based on their religious belief the killing of thousands was justifiable. Yes, men died; but if your nation was victorious there was normally some benefit. Hence, there always seemed to be a justifiable reason for war.
However, this doesn't mean a country has a responsibilty to go to war that is unless you're the United States; the U.S. always has some reason for joining in the fight.
