Risk

Last year I took the biggest risk of my life: I took over the role of Jim in the Glass Menagerie 5 days before the show went up. I'm not nervous in front of an audience but I would be lying if I said that I wasn't sweating bullets before I took the stage on opening night. I knew my blocking well but my lines were not where they would have been had I been cast in the show at the start of the play. The run ended up fine but there was two or three moments on stage when I forgot my lines during my scene with Laura. Even though I had taken the part so late in the run of the show, I felt embarassed at not knowing my lines. Since those few performances during The Glass Menagerie, I have memorized every one of my lines cold.
