Necessary Evil

What does a nation do when it is faced with imminent invasion or destruction from another country? It declares war, of course. It would be impractical and downright illogical not to, unless the invadee, for some reason, wishes to be trampled.
But while war is usually appropriate for the country on the brink of disaster, it rarely is for the country that starts the conflict. Take for example the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Why did those occur? Because Al-Qaeda, in fulfilling their twisted, hypocritical ideologies, believes that their desire for a worldwide Muslim caliphate outweighs the nonbelievers' basic human rights to life. I have always been one for political indifference. I am not so conceited as to think that my beliefs hold more ground than others.
I definitely don't support war. It is all too often a bloody skirmish simply stemmed from one party's refusal to accept another belief. But unfortunately, the world is filled to the brim with dogma, so war while, horrible, is going to stick around for a very, very long time.
