October 5, 2001 – Robert Stevens becomes the first victim in the 2001 anthrax attacks.

This was not a good event. What happened was that soon after 9/11, an unidentified someone mailed letters with anthrax in them to several news media offices and two Democratic U.S. Senators, killing five people and infecting 17 others. An effect that it had was that it raised safety precautions in our country. I “loathe” this event because innocent people had to die at the expense of a psychologically unstable individual, but I appreciate that our government is ready if this were to happen again.
