However I'm not very immersed in any wars to many degrees, so what would I know about the appropriate time for war?

On War
The closest ties I have to the military, beyond being an American defended by our US Army and Navy, are the veterans that my sister works with at the VA Hospital - and I've never spoken to them. And so as a nonviolent person separated to varying degrees from war, I would tend to think that it's never morally right. I think it is the final alternative to peaceful compromise. I feel like the first step to resolving conflict should always be to open the lines of communication. Many wars are born from misunderstanding, and so to cut back on those wars could be to cut back on misunderstanding. To alleviate this affliction would be to better communicate with one another. When this step has been cut out, war is probably the less effective alternative. It would show the country as just a violent force. However, when communication is unsuccessful, it may become a country's responsibility to use whatever means necessary to protect its citizens, and if that means war, then I suppose that would be the right time for war.
