Don Draper: Mad Man

1. If you could be any animal, which one would you be?
2. How would the world have been different if America never gained its independence?
3. Who is your favorite television character?

Due to the fact that I don't watch much television, prompt three is the easiest for me to answer. Without a doubt, my favorite character on a television show would be Don Draper fromMad Men, because of the complexity of the character. Unlike many protagonists who are one-sided, Don Draper is multi-faceted. An example of this is his family life. Although his love for his family is shown throughout the series, he still continues to have extramarital affairs. This may be caused by his abuse-filled childhood. As a result, he is divided on issues regarding love.

Another interesting aspect to Don Draper is his personality. Cool as a cucumber, Don never lets any situation get the best of him. This, in my opinion, is an admirable quality. Besides his high confidence level, Don's personality is intriguing because of how it changes. Usually a cynical man, Don is also bound by a code of ethics (which is rather strange for an ad man). Essentially, Don Draper is my favorite character on a television show because of his many contrasting aspects.
