(Prompt #2)
The most important activity in my life is, without a doubt, marching band. With two to three hour practices at least three days a week, playing at four hour football games, and seventeen hour competitions most saturdays, marching band definitely takes up the majority of my time. It leaves absolutely no room for planning outings with my friends, extra credit, or even adequate sleep. Many people ask "Why do you do marching band?" It may sound like all work and no play, but being in marching band has made me the person I am today. Since I joined marching band, I hold my head higher in the hallways, I've learned to deal with almost every kind of person, and I've never done anything without feeling like I had the whole band - my whole family - behind me. When you spent so much time with a group, you learn to depend upon the, even the people you don't get along with. Both on and off the field, I depend on my section, my band, and my drum majors for support and friendship. Working together towards a common goal brings us together. We aren't just an after school group - we're a family, and we all need each other. The band room is a place where I feel totally at home, and when our band succeeds, when we win, I have never felt closer to anyone than my seventy-eight person band family.
